Location Name: The Hofborg Festival and Faire Grounds, or simply the Hofborg Faire
Brief Description: The Hofborg Faire operates on the last Friday of each month and features a wide variety of vendors, performers, and curiosities from all corners of Tamriel. On Faire Fridays, the crew asks a suggested donation for admission (usually around 5-10 gp). Attendees who donate 15 or more will recieve a tankard good for free refills on Hofborg County ales throughout their visit (self-serve barrels on the main stage). All donations go to the crew and performers that make the Hofborg Faire possible!
On Faire Fridays attendees can sample food and drink at the waterside Wine & Meadery, get their feet wet in the grape stomping tub, and learn a little about the wine and mead-making process. They can browse the shops and wares in the Merchant's Circle, see a show at one of several stages, and view one-of-a-kind curiosities, like the enormous Clockwork Telescope!
The Fairegrounds remains open on weekends throughout the month, with a much more limited offering of vendors and merchants (and no admission requested) - an open market of sorts, featuring your more day-to-day market faire and fresh produce from local sources.
If you are a vendor or performer who would like a spot at the Faire, contact the Borgmester for more information. The Fairegrounds is also open to passing merchants who want to sell their wares anytime during the week. Many of these traveling merchants may offer a free bed roll or meal in exchange for light work, so if you're passing through Hofborg and looking for short-term work, the fairegrounds is a great place to ask around.
- We are currently interested in finding merchants, tradesmen, performers, provisioners and servers, and fortune tellers.
Max Population: 24
Points of Interest
The Hofborg Faire features several semi-permanent points of interest which visitors can enjoy on most average Faire Fridays.
- Clockwork Telescope
- File:Fairtelescope.png
- The origins of this enormous telescope are shrouded in mystery, and it's owner - Wynse Hlaalu - remains tight-lipped about it. His claim is that it came from the fabled Clockwork City, though there are those who refute these claims as fantastical rumors, dubbing the telescope a clever knock-off and nothing more. Word among the Hofborg Fairegrounds crew is that the Hlaalu is not even the rightful owner of the device, that he's merely hiding it away at the Fairegrounds under the pretense of sharing the curious attraction with the denizens of Hofborg County. Whatever it's origins, the telescope is an impressive sight to behold, and Faire attendees can peer through it for an unparalleled glimpse at the northern Tamriel sky. Notable NPCs: Wynse Hlaalu and his servants (male dunmer & various)
- Waterside Wine & Meadery
- File:Fairwine.png
- A curious coupling of rustic nord flair with altmer refinement; this wine and liquor vendor sits waterside with stunning views and comfortable seating. Sample the best and rarest that Summerset and Skyrim have to offer, take a dip in the grape stomping tub, try your hand at pressing your own wine, and take home a bottle as a souvenir! The proprietors - Fasarintil Lareththar and his wife Ygfika - are happy to serve, and full of insights into the history of the brewery and winemaking process. Notable NPCs: Fasarintil Lareththar (an apraxic altmer residing in Hofborg County), Ygfika "the Unlucky" (a nord local)
- The Merchant's Circle
- File:Fairmerchantircle.png
- Situated snugly around the wishing fountain, the Merchant's Circle features a wide selection of goods sourced locally and from all over Tamriel. From produce and sundries to furniture, art, and rare gifts; the market has something for everyone. Notable NPCs: Tythis (dunmer bookkeeper), Nuzhimeh (redguard merchant)
- Jester's Pavilion
- File:Fairjester.png
- In the mood for some laughs? Stop by the brightly colored Jester's Pavilion (next to the main stage)! Featuring amusing antics and interactive shows; this small stage promises big smiles to all who stop and sit for a spell. Notable NPCs: Anglidor (bosmer jester)
