Location Name: Hofborg, The Village

Brief Description: Heading South from the docks you will be entering The Village of Hofborg, treading upon a cobblestone path. The Village is home to the locals who have grown up in this region as well as Saebjorn crew members, Nords from other Holds, and outlanders who have sprouted new roots. The prominent feature is a towering windmill at the center of town erected by an ancient peoples of ages past. It has since been renovated into a wind powered granary for the processing of wheat and other local grains. Additionally, within the Village is a rustic stone well with a thatched wooden roof near a large statue of the Visage of the Skald, heralding residents and guests alike.

To keep the peace and often help out loading wagons at the granary and assist the residence with minor repairs, young Jorm Sigridssen, son of one of the local stonemasons, maintains a diligent watch over this district of town. His father wasn’t pleased he’d chosen to give up his birth name to be another “Jorm”, but the fact his son has chosen a noble cause to stand for among his fellow Jorms brings him pride.

Points of Interest

Candlery
File:Candlery.png
The first shop on the path south into the Village is the Candlery, where candles, wax, soaps, and lamp oil is sold. Rendered from tallow processed at the Butcher’s Shop, the ingredient is a component for not only the large quality of candle wax and soaps used by the town, but as a reagent for salves used at the Healing Barrow of the Motherhouse, and a cooking ingredient at the various eateries around town.
The Bunkhouse

Just across the street from the Butcher's Shop and Farmer's Market, tucked in behind the Candlery, is the gate to the Bunkhouse. It is here the bulk of the Saebjorn crew and town labor force lodges.
Butcher's Shop

Across the lane from the Bunkhouse is the Butcher Shop. You will recognize it by the freshly field dressed deer hanging from the front eve, ready to be skinned and butchered. Fresh meat is supplied daily by local livestock breeders and hunters.
Farmer's Market
File:The Village504.png
Next door to the Butcher’s Shop is the Farmer's Market with goods sourced from local farmers and gatherers of the village. There are seasonal vegetables and fruit as well as imported fruits from warmer regions. Food is available for purchase on-site and at prior request. Special items can be ordered that are harder to come by, at a fair price. We keep grains, barley, and wheat on the shelf, as well as wild rice.
Tinder Lane Gate

Tucked in right beside the Farmer's Market is the gate leading to Tinder Lane, a small cul de sac consisting of various workshops. The small-scale neighborhood is home to many tinkers, smiths and tanners who are not welcome in any abundance in the town proper due to the potential for explosions, burning embers and noxious fumes.
Hofborg, Village Homes
File:The Village501.png
Many homes in the Village belong to longtime residents of Hofborg, while some residents are new and have recently grown roots in this seaside town. With the growing number of operations the Saebjorn crew and allies have brought to this port, more and more people are flooding in for work and shelter.
Stone Briar Terrace Gate

Carved between the small cottages are narrow stone steps leading up along the western foothills of Thyrrfjell. Here quaint cottages built on top of and around the steep boulders and slender pines dot this precarious district called Stone Briar Terrace.
White Wood Trail Gate
File:The Village507.png
Behind the wind powered granary is White Wood Trail. This narrow dirt path that winds along low rolling hills is dotted with low stone fences which divides small land plots suitable for cottages and lodges with gardens.
Entrance to the Crossroads

Beyond this gate is the Skógrvegr, known as the the "Forest Road" by locals, and the Crossroads to travelers. This is the most remote and densely wooded district of town, and from where most of the town's lumber and wild game is harvested.
